Marilyn
Marilyn was my Spiritual Mother who I met at around age 16 years old. She took me under her wing like I was one of her own and was one of the most influential people in my life. I wouldn’t be who I am today or be doing what I am doing without Marilyn having been in my life, guiding me, teaching me, and most importantly loving me.
Marilyn Gadberry Naylor
Marilyn (Gadberry) Naylor, age 78, formerly of Anaconda and Butte, MT, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018, in Sparks, NV. Although her loving heart was tired, the love she shared so freely remains here on this Earth.
Marilyn was born on January 11, 1940, in Horse Cave, KY, an only child of Margaret (Lucille) Webb Gadberry and Durwood (Red) Walton Gadberry. She graduated from high school in Jacksonville, FL. She obtained her Associates Degree in Religious Studies from Allen Hancock College in Santa Maria, CA. She was an ordained minister. She was a military spouse from 1972 to 1982.
Marilyn’s true gift was her open heart for anyone in need. She provided the love and acceptance to others that she had hoped for when growing up. She taught her children, through her actions, about acceptance and inclusion, volunteering at schools for disabled children, and visiting friends with AIDS when people were afraid of that scary unfamiliar disease. As an Air Force wife, her home was always open to young airmen who didn’t have family to visit at the holidays. There wasn’t a vocation she was afraid to undertake, including veterinary assistant, school bus driver, and travel agent extraordinaire, before finding her true calling as a spiritual counselor. Marilyn had impeccable taste in art, Southern cooking, travel, and the friends she kept. A few of her many talents were dancing, making a mean biscuits & gravy, stretching a dollar, cussing like a sailor, channeling spirit guides, raising three teenagers on her own, and giving a crap about the world around her. Her laugh was infectious. No one ever had to wonder what her opinion was. Her best qualities were that she had the capacity to see every individual for who they were at heart, and for making everyone feel they had a home.
